Grouplove – Grouplove EP

February 1, 2011 § Leave a comment

I wrote about Grouplove’s fantastic song ‘Colors’ back in April (when they were still called GROUP), and even though almost a year has passed it still stands up as a brilliantly energetic and hook-filled song. It has seen somewhat of a surge in popularity recently; I heard it played on BBC 6 Music the other day in fact. It is being released as one of 5 tracks on the Grouplove EP, which you can buy here on iTunes, and stream here on Grouplove’s official website. The other 4 tracks carry on the tone set by ‘Colors’: the band create a fun, pop sound that manages not to be too sickeningly sweet. ‘Gold Coast’ is perhaps my favourite track on the EP, it’s slightly more downbeat, with some beautiful guitar parts and harmonies that have a pained, aching quality to them. I like this band a lot.
