D/R/U/G/S are a Manchester/London based electronic group. Their songs could be placed in the dance genre, but they lean towards trippy and psychedelic rather than heavy bass and beats. The have a sound which is much more organic than any dance music you’d find in clubs, making it much more enjoyable to listen to. Strong, danceable beats are balanced with a softer sound which grows and pulses and the songs progress. Not that the songs are boring, they’re exciting, fresh and intriguing. I can only guess, but I imagine that seeing these songs played live would be quite a joy. If you like the sound of them, you can catch them on the following dates:

July 26th – The Old Blue Last, London (with Spark)

August 3rd – The Ruby Lounge, Manchester (with Pantha Du Prince)

August 12th – The Grapes, Hereford (with Mice)

September 18th – Postcards From Manchester Festival @ The Deaf Institute

Download demo track ‘Virginity’ below thanks to The Fader, you can read an interview they did with the band here.

D/R/U/G/S – Virginity (br600 demo)

D/R/U/G/S also made a pretty great mixtape for The Mixtape back in July, featuring artists such as Drake, J Dilla and Egyptian Hip Hop. Download it below along with another demo track.

D/R/U/G/S – Escapeship (br600 demo)

D/R/U/G/S – Slo-fi Mix

They of course have MySpace where you can hear tracks, plus they have a Tumblr (head there for 3 more remixes).
